A little background: only sparks on the right cylinder, new coil, ignitor, and plug didn't fix the problem.

Need help with signal generator testing
Before I pull the trigger on a new signal generator for my gs500 I wanted to test it first. I tried my multimeter on the 2000 setting but the only reading I got was 1. I set it to 20K and got 2.03 on one side and 2.08 on the other. Does this sound like a shot generator?

Put a volt meter or test light on the negative side or each coil. The voltage should swing between coil voltage (+12V) to close to ground as you turn over the engine. Check one then the other. If that happens you are golden.
With the test light, the light will go on and off. It should spark when the light comes on or when the voltage goes high.
