    What points should be fitted

    Hi I have a gs750 1977 but the engine has been swapped and the backing plate, points and advance retard have been fitted from the old engine, I set the point gaps to about 13thou, set 1-4 to fire at correct point but can't get 2-3 and three timed properly, what I'm thinking could the engine be newer and need a different back plate and points I have NDs fitted could it be the other type, can you tell age of engine from engine number to see what points should be fitted I also have an ignitor box and pickups from an 1980 gs750 could I use this to convert it.
