    Wiring questions

I'm building a gsx400 (electronic ignition) and would like to simplify the wiring a little,i steel need turn signals and brake lights.
not going to use the dashboard at all (will fit mini speedo & rev counter)
the center stand is also going out
i want to use a fuse block (got a Bosch 4 fuses unit)
what parts of the wiring can i eliminate? and how?
gear position light is one i guess but is there more?

    Thanks

If you are going to be using the original harness, and want to eliminate the wires al together, strip the tape off (zap strap it to hold it together in the junction spots) and cut out the wires you don't want. Make sure you use the wiring diagram from BassCliff's site. http://www.mtsac.edu/~cliff/storage/...450_wiring.pdf . There isn't alot on your bike already though. So unless you eliminate the horn, fuel, and oil pressure (oh and what you've mentioned all ready) the rest of it is keeping your bike going.

Are you wanting your guages backlit?

The only thing to eliminate on these already bare bones bikes is the the gear position indicator and the fuel gauge. Everything else is quite valuable and likely necessary. Anyone who eliminates the oil light or horn is just as crazy as someone who eliminates the head/running/tail light and proceeds to ride at night on a dark road IMHO.

I agree whole hartedly, I was just letting him know what wasn't essential to the bike running.

maybe i wasn't clear, i will off course use oil light, horn etc.
my new fuel tank doesn't have a sender unit.
is eliminating the gear position and fuel gauge is just a matter of removing the wires from the harness?

Have you looked on Basscliffs "little" site to find a wiring diagram? Then you can see the path whether its direct or routed through a component.
