That way you are covered if the Dyna ever goes out. They do seem to be reliable though. I've only heard of a rare Dyna 2000 fail over the years, not read of one on the S.

When I go on a long trip I'll carry the points as spares or leave them out on my workbench in the "Honey can you Fedex me X" pile....
