shop got my gs1150 running, get it home and then no spark

You can use either a 4 terminal or a 5 terminal relay. 87 has power when the relay is ON, 87a has power when the relay is OFF.
Either way, terminal 87 goes to both coils.

If you are getting a pulsing 0.5-12.0 volts on the coil terminal that connects to the igniter, it is not fried. The regulator has no effect on starting, just charging, which is an entirely different area to explore.
Are the Taylor wires you purchased the copper or suppression type? I ask because you cannot use suppression wires with the NGK caps. It is an either/or thing.

ok,
got back on the 1150 to test the igniter/cdi box and pickup
pickup looks good, I have a ohms reading within spec between each set of wires coming out
the ignitor test is funny, but I tried it and got no spark at the plug
does this mean my igniter/cdi box is bad? I think so...

all the fuse box terminals nice and shiney?? getting solid voltages thru the starter button and kill switch? Just went thru similar on a Cooley and the fuse box was the problem.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

it's a shame you don't have someone local to let you plug there box in and see if that fixes it....
i have a couple boxes but i doubt that your close to me.
Send your ignitor to a member on here and see if they'll plug it into a known good bike to test it....

I had a brand new Dyna-S go bad. 1-4 trigger was faulty. Sent it back and they replaced it. The whole point was to improve the ignition, so it was rather frustrating to take it for a test spin and find it cutting out on two cylinders. After that I plugged the stock ignitor back in and used it while the Dyna-S sat in the tool box till last summer, when I found out on my first ever dyno run my stock ignitor was breaking up at 7000rpms. I've had a Dyna-S since last summer and used green 3.0 ohm coils for years. Dyna makes a good product and the staff a very helpful, I just happened to get a bad one that slipped through.GS\'s since 1982: 55OMZ, 550ES, 750ET, (2) 1100ET\'s, 1100S, 1150ES. Current ride is an 83 Katana. Wifes bike is an 84 GS 1150ES

i had a box full of these at one time.
if an 1150 came in with no spark i would plug one of mine in...always took care of the problem.
luckily none was over charging drastically or i believe that would have smoked my ignitor.

rode the bike today! a few times!
but starter keeps locking up and makes some bad popping sounds, anyone have a good used starter for sale?
