I have fried two ignition units on this bike and do not understand why. Each unit last about a year and then it will drop left cylinder, believe it or not but changing the tension on ign mounting screws will bring cylinder back to life, this works for awhile. These units are hard to find and dynatek does not make a system for the 300. This is my wifes bike and she wants to ride!!!!

Have you check out your charging system- a bad R/R can cause high voltages that fry ignitors.

if it were me i'd TRY to remove the thing from it's case and use a hairdryer/heatgun to take off the black potting material, then re-do the solder joints.
definitely sounds like bad solder joints on the printed circuit board.
I have successfully fixed a couple this way, but not one like yours so good luck .
and CHECK the charging system while you are at it.. it might just be killing the modules !!Comment
