my 1150 is finally back together, new to me last year, finally owning the beast that I fell in love with back when they were new.
Last year the charging was marginal, now, with a new stator and a Compufire RR it charges at idle and gives a solid 14.2volts around 2000rpm, all with the 100W headlamp on, life is good... even lost the panic to add that digi volt meter.
There had been a nasty oil leak and it looks as if the new stator cover gasket has eliminated that...
Q. There are 2 wires with female bullets hanging behind the headlamp, 1 looks black with white, the other orange? I cannot see where they would have gone, can anyone please tell me?
The forks had to come out for new seals, they now have new bushings, Sonic 1.00kg/mm springs, anti-dive blanking plates from Demon Speed and EBC HH pads. Only a short test ride so far, but it feels good, although I may add some more oil to make them a tad more progressive, as it does dive a fair bit when on the brakes. (I did not add as much as Sonic suggested or use any additional air pressure that the Canadian models originally used)
That ride reminded me that there are still issues with the monitoring module, the headlamp warning goes on and off, also the taillamp, which is now powered from the license plate lamp feed and the battery sensor...
The manual says it is under the RH side cover, but I could not see it, so pondering whether to pull the cluster and remove a few light bulbs, any thoughts on that?
Oh, and the old Michelin Macadams have been replaced with new Pirelli Sport Demons; still an old bike, but I love it.. and am now looking forward to some long rides.
The rear damper may have to be next, not sure how well it is working or if the adjustments are even actually doing anything?? I will post on that forum as well.
Thanks to all for the info and advice
Take care
