    handbrake connection

I have a 1981 gs750. My handbrake doesnt light up. I bought a new sensor. Still no light. So, I found the G/R (green/red) wire that powers that function under the gas tank (according to my Clymers manual)
Coming from the rear of the bike, the G/R wire dead ends into a lil white plastic junction box along with 5 other wires directly under the gas tank. The other 5 wires continue thru the lil white box toward the headlamp, but the G/R wire does not. The sensor i bought has a White with Black stripe wire and an orange wire.
Where do these go?? Which of the two sensor wires should connect to the G/R wire?? And how do i connect them when G/R wire is mounted in this lil white box and my sensor wires have those crimp on male ends??
Any advice would be awesome, as i need to have this bike inspected asap and she wont pass unless i fix this.
    ...... thanks

The brake switch is under the brake lever. Follow the wires from there. The switch wires shorted together should turn on the light. You should find your factory manual on basscliff's site for download. It should have a wiring diagram. I don't know that I would trust Clymers to be perfectly accurate. http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/
