    R/R - $30 OEM used, $99 std. new, $155 CompuFire?

After determining that my system was over charging, I was faced with this dilemma –

    R/R - $30 OEM used, $99 new std., or $155 new CompuFire?

I went with the CompuFire since I figured I may be saving my stator ($60 used to $150+ new) and preserving the new AGM battery ($80). For the $55 up from a new replacement and compared to a OEM with questionable life lift in it, I thought the Compufire was a good value.

Found this seller on Amazon (8/6/13) $155 free shipping. Placed Order Sat Evening, shipped out Monday AM.

    Can’t wait to get it.
1981 GS750L - Owned since 1990 when graduated high school and since have been discovering all the things not disclosed by seller.
1983 GS750E - bought in 2016 as a rough runner to use while rebuilding 81L and then to combine with ES to make one good one
1983 GS750ES - bought in Toronto in 2015 on a lark as a non-runner, missing front cowling and exhaust - If you have a 1983 750ES front cowling let me know! Blue would be nice

    Andrew,

Compufire is good, just expensive. You could have saved a chunk of money buying a series R/R sold by Polaris. Lots of threads on these R/R's in the archives.

Yep, a new Polaris unit is less than $70.

Compufire is probably easier to fit but at twice the price unless you have space issue the SH775 probably gets the nod.
