    sounds like a rev limiter

I have a 1980 GS750L Suzuki that has been built into a hard tail chopper, its been running fine all summer. The last couple rides I've been on with it, at higher rpm's it sounds like its hitting a rev limiter, then it will clear up then do it again, going at slower speeds it doesn't do it. Seems to me to be a spark problem by the way it sounds, I was just seeing if any body else had the same problem that could help me narrow it down, all electronics are stock...Thanks...

What maintenance has been done (valve adjustments, carb cleaning, plugs, etc)?

carbs were cleaned in the spring, didn't change the plugs they had a nice color to them, don't have very many miles on it since I went through the motor.
