    6/9 pin connectors

The multi-pin connectors in the wiring harness refuse to separate for me and they're too brittle to put the channel locks on.

    What's the common solution?

    Thanks
    Rick

    Rip 'em apart anyway.

If they're warped by heat from the resistance in bad connections, you'll need to partially or completely destroy the connectors to get them apart and repair the damage. Be gentle, wiggle, worry, and pry. And make sure you get the locking loose.

You might try a good soaking in plastic-safe connector cleaner or WD-40 beforehand.

I spritz lube into the connector and pull on the cables.
Not the best but there is no tool I know of that can be readily used.

There are some online vendors that sell the shells for the connectors.Eastern Beaver or something like that. Someone will chime in to clarify please?

I would replace the connectors clean up my pins and forget about things.

I have had one of these connectors melt both halves together that had to be crushed in pliers to extricate the wires.

        Vintage Connections

I had the same issue, I had to destroy mine to get them apart.
Ordered a few new ones from Vintage connections.

Cheap and come complete with the pins etc.
