Just FYI it's not a CDI either... that's short for capacitor discharge ignition... ours uses transistors and is referred to as transistorised ignition or an igniter. Just so you don't go looking for the wrong thing

My fault! I am quite dyslectic when it comes to electricity, and of course this is way over my head speaking in terms
I have not come any closer to a solution, the guy hasn't got his ass out of the wagon and dismantled his bike so I haven't been able to borrow that ICU (right!?) yet. Summer is just a few months away so I'm thinking of taking a chance and getting a new/used one - take the chance of getting it in vain...
Where is your suggestion I start looking? Should I get the cheapest second hand one on ebay? The newly produced aftermarket copies? Does anyone here have for sale cheaper/better maybe?
