Points spark, not plugs 1978 GS1000
Misses over 4000 RPM. Removed points cover, 1-4 points arching like crazy, very weak spark at points. Swapped coil wires from 2/3, coil is ok. Points and condensers have 600 miles. Ideas?Tags: None

Points arching is a sign of a bad condenser, try one of your old ones if you still have them1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

“Remember When in doubt use full throttle, It may not improve the situation ,but it will end the suspense ,
If it isn't going to make it faster or safer it isn't worth doing

Just went through this. My condensers were shot. Replace your points and condensers, and you should be good again.

Even if they have "only" 600 miles on them, try some condensors with ZERO miles on them.

If the points have been arcing for 600 miles, it's apretty safe bet they are toast by now. Most likely from faulty condensers. Points and condensers are not expensive.
I would replace both. I get them from. http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htmKomorebi-The light filtering through the trees.

Thanks to all. Switched condensers and is definitely a bad one. Bit the bullet and ordered OEM from the dealer. Cheap aftermarket parts is what caused this problem

What did they cost? I bought OEM from bike Bandit for my free 850G, and I'm pretty sure it killed a hundred dollars.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things
