The 3 wires from stator pass thru the starter motor cover and come up just behind the battery. Best to remove battery to see what's happenning, then you'll find those wires lead to plugs-two stator wires go direct to R/R while a third wanders off into harness and comes back . This third stator wire needs to be altered so it also goes direct to R/R. You are bypassing the loop into the harness.1981 gs650L

Just A Little More Guidance
Here's my current stock setup:
Stator has 3 wires: W/G, Y, W/Blue. The Yellow and White/Blue connect to R/R plug. The White/Green leads into the harness.
My R/R has 5 wires: R, W/Blue, W/R, Y, Black White. The Black/White is currently grounded on the frame. The other 4 wires have a plug/connector. As mentioned above, the Yellow and White/Blue connect to the stator.
My question: Do I disconnect the White/Green stator wire from the harness? And if I do, where do I reconnect it?
Thank you!

The white/green comes from stator, disappears into harness, and comes back as red/white to that 4 way plug and heads to R/R, Cut the white/green before it heads into harness and connect it to the red/white wire going into that plug.1981 gs650L

Thanks folks.
Thanks Tom for taking the time to explain that to me. I'll try to knock it out in the next week or so.
