The mark by the T is TDC.

The F mark is where the ignition is supposed to fire, several degrees before TDC.

As said by Kent. Have you downloaded a manual from Bass cliffs website? http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/ You talking ignition or cam timing? And is the post on the LHS cracked as its not level. Not sure it that will affect timing

yes i did, and it's not clear as it only refers to older type ignition.
i tried to go by this article http://www.bwringer.com/gs/tdc.html
so the question is, which mark should be aligned to the trigger: |F or |T ?

            as said before.............T = TDC, F = Firing mark

Sorry for asking again but i want to make sure i understand:
for timing the cams does the trigger should be aligned to TDC ( | T) or to fire (| F)

OK you FINALLY used the word "cam" to differentiate it from "ignition" timing.

For CAM timing, you use the T mark, as that is Top Dead Center.

For IGNITION timing, you use the F mark for Fire.

                Plain enough?

Now it's plain, i should have said that from the start.
so back to the bike to re-time and re adjust valves.

Thank you for recognizing that and admitting it.

Yes, we are pretty good and, quite frankly, really know our bikes, but there are some times that we just need a clue.

Can i get one, as sometimes i dont have a clue. One time i asked a Saleman at a Suzuki shop what was the black coating on the new GSXR forks. He said it was powder coating. My fault for asking a salesman. Its Titanium nitrate i found out later.
