Or corroded connections. Check all harness frame ground loops also. Mainly the one right at the front of the battery box that grounds from the harness.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

About to place an order for the wiring/connections.
So far I have a harness for a 78 gs750, and what I think is a good harness for a 83 gs1100. If a stock harness is supplied I can make up a new one no issue. Will be available with either deutsch connectors or oem connectors. Would also be able to supply them with the coil relay mod already done, etc.
Anyone interested in a harness still? If not one of the two bikes mentioned earlier, I would need yours or one mailed to me, to measure wire length etc.

What did the end result cost come to? and I'm wondering how you're finishing the major connections, ie handle bar connections, ignition, ect... have a picture of your finished 750 one?Rob

All the connections will either be deutsch or oem. If oem, it would plug right into all the switches. If you needed deutsch, your switches etc would have to have new connectors put on.
As far as cost that all comes down to what bike it is for (how much wire is used) and the amount of connections & type of connections. I do not see it getting too expensive unless deutsch is used, or another higher end brand of connection.
Edit: Circuit breakers might be available for the large circuits (starter relay, R/R). Still looking into cost on those.Last edited by Guest; 12-23-2013, 02:41 AM.

Make it easy on yourself...
If you sourced wire in the correct colors, I know lots of people might be interested in simply buying reasonable lengths of the wire.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

My harnesses won't be extremely expensive, not a shop so not charging much at all for labor.

Forgot to mention they would be supplied with a wiring diagram that lists the new colours etc etc.Last edited by Guest; 12-23-2013, 05:36 PM.

I would definately be interested in one for my 78' 1000 and my 80' 1000G. Both would be with OEM connectors but I would need to see your finished result first of course.Rob

Damn! You're going to have a little business at this rate! I actually just started a possible frame up restoration of my '79 GS 425L. Was looking to make my own harness, but I've got little experience with wiring. I'm interested to hear how yours comes out... maybe getting one of yours is the answer!

Looked into it more, Mil spec wiring would make the harnesses prohibitively expensive.
The problem now is replicating a harness with the same colors as oem. The diagram I looked at for a GS1100 for example had over 40 different combinations.
What I have done is located a good high heat wiring & high spec heat shrink. I can replicate the harnesses but the wiring won't be an exact match to oem. Striping would be added by me to assist with wire tracing. Of course a new diagram would be supplied to go along with this. This that are seriously interested please pm me to discuss connection choice, etc.

Need a vote on this, how many people would buy a harness with OEM connectors but not the same color combos as OEM? (tracers would still be provided, just not the same color)

Might be interested in a harness for a 78 750. Color doesn't bother me, and I don't really like the OEM style connectors, lol.
