I have checked everything...clean connectors etc etc and no spark. I suspect the ignitor. Is there a way to test it before ordering something that may be ok still? Would like to be as positive as possible before spending cash.

Clymers has a test for it... diagnosed mine. You have to put a 1.5v battery across a couple of the terminals & look for a signal elsewhere or something... was about 7 -8 years ago when I tested mine. Fitted a Dyna S after that as it was faulty....1980 GS1000G - Sold
