rebuilt 1980 gs550, leftover wire, not sure where it goes

I'm gonna get some laughs or possibly gasps of horror, but what the heck is this thing?

    Second Question:

I got new gauges from Dime City and I don't want to chop up the old gauges.
Where can I find this kind of connector so I can plug into the same spot the old gauges did?

Nice picture of a black, curved wire, but please give us another clue (or three).

One clue would be ... what colors are the wires?

Another clue could be ... how long is it?

        you're right! So sorry!

The colors are faded, but it appears to be green and black

It is about 2.3 feet long when stretched.

One end has a rubber shielding (as you can see in the picture) which suggests to me that at one point it was attached to the battery... but my wiring diagram does not show any such thing

        Thanks!

Yeah, I noticed that boot, but the only wires that connect to the battery are LARGE or red.
Actually, the red wire is usually captured with the large wire to the solenoid, and might be at either end of that wire.

The only (all) black and green wires are the turn signals, but they won't have that boot at one end.

My 78 1000 has ground wires for the signals that look similar to the black wire with the ring on it.Guessing the green should be the power wire to the signal None of mine had the boots on them.
