There may be a manual on the Basscliff website. Have you tried looking there?

I have a service manual but cant find anything on fuses. Bascliff doesn't have an owners manual for the 550. I feel dumb because when I removed it I thought it was so obvious that I didn't mark it. Now I cant remember. I don't even really know what its function is.

Its the power terminal that is often used for the relay mod.
Wire should attach to the starter relay so that is always powered.

Mounting point on left (as shown in your pic) connects to ground.

where is it powered from? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I see the ground and the wire goes to the relay, ok. Thanks for the help. How is it supplied voltage? There are 3 terminals, 1 ground, one is the red wire and another one labeled +. But I don't have any more wires that need homes. I got this bike already torn apart some, the starter relay was not with the bike.

The original intent for the power terminal was to provide fused power for something an owner might add to the bike.

The red wire attaches to the hot terminal on the starter relay. (The hot terminal is connected directly to the battery positive terminal.)
              The attachment is the ground.

This leaves two small screws with one labeled "+" & the other labeled "-".
If an owner wanted to add something like a radio, he could connect the radio power leads to these two screws.

If you need it, I might be able to get a pic of the power terminal on my 82 GS550L.
It will be a little different than yours because I installed the relay mod.
Might also differ because of model year differences.

Hope this helps. Taken about 5 years ago on my 81 550L before cleanup picts. I do not have the bike here to add better picts.

Thanks so much. I understand the purpose of it now. Good to know. Thank you also for the pics. That helps so much even with routing the harness wires, all that was apart when I bought it.
