I have a chopper/bobber 79 gs750 neutral light

WHere is the neutral indicator light wire (switch)? Is it a ground (-) when in ineutral. I want to add a neutral light.

Well yes, yes it is...lights are so purdy

The wire would be on the sensor by the shift drum and work it's way up to the gauges, I don't know the color off-hand but if you have a wiring diagram it'll be on there.

under the sprocket cover on the left side of the engine is where you will find the switch and Yes it does provide a ground when in neutral , so run switched and fused +positive directly to the light fixture.

note:
put it in series with the starter circuit and you won't be able to start the bike in gear.

Oh man that would be a worse annoyance than the clutch danger switch.

Not to mention it's a huge safety risk, if the bike dies or stalls in traffic.
