GS 1100 vs GS 1150 starter motor

I have had difficulties in starting my 1100 Kat lately.
It could of course be the battery allthough it is fully charged?
The previous owner stated that he had changed the starter motor and it appears to be the case as it looks brand new?
I looked up the P/N and it says 31100-00A00.
This P/N is apparently the correct fitment for the GS 1100 and GS 1100 Katana allthough the parts list says that it's now replaced by P/N 31100-49500-H17?
So far so good except that my engine is an 1150!
This engine is normally fitted with a starter engine carrying the P/N 31100-00A00-H17...
I read somewhere that the starter motors are not interchangeable between the 1100's and the 1150's?
    Is that correct?
Could that be the issue for the difficulting starting?
