need help with my gs700

need help with my gs700
Last summer my battery went dead alot had to replace it twice it would loose all the acid.then one day after riding went to start it and blowes main fuse everytime i turn the key no blowes main fuse what do i need?Tags: None

1980 GS 750E Bought new in Feb of 1980
2015 CAN AM RTS
Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

A boiled dry battery from poor or absent regulation smells very similar to burnt potatoes, if that helps. Since there has been a lot of discussion over the way the RR shunts excess current to the headlight, over the years, and since the headlight comes on when the key is turned on, I would look to the headlight wiring to see if anything is shorting/grounded out.
Hopefully I'm wrong and the experts will pounce!
