    wiring a SH775 into an 1150

    Hi all,

I've been through a ton of threads trying to find an answer to this, so apologizes if I'm asking an already answered question. Further, electrical stuff is not my strong suit, so I'm definitely a bit over my head with this project.

    I had a bad R/R in my 1985 GS1150. I picked up a SH775 and got it mounted.

My plan: to wire around the harness by hooking up my own wires directly to the stator, ground and battery.

I go to wire in my 3 stator wires, but there are 4 wires going into my stator; 2 for each side. How do I make this hook this up? Is there something different about the stator in an 1150 than earlyer GS's?

    thanks,

there should be only 3 stator wires. If you peel back the tape you should get to only three. Use those. Else using an ohm meter figure out which pair are connected to each other and only use one of them.

I'm not sure what the other leg is for; perhaps a means of detecting when the engine is running.

If you connect direct to the battery with the other two wires you will need to increase your main fuse to at least 20 amps.

Look at GS charging health for description of grounding.
