    SH775 connector sets -- contingency

I was horsing around with a potential project (cabin fever at work here) and I noticed that the Triumph connector sets for the SH775 regulators were backordered at BikeBandit. I didn't check the other (Triumph) sources, but I thought it might suck pretty heartily if a GSR denizen were to go through the trouble of upgrading a failed R/R with the SH775, only to find that there's a long wait for the connectors to become available. After the winter we've had, I think our riding season will be even more precious than usual!

OK, so it occurred to me that I'm all set up for shipping stuff quickly, and since it was about three degrees F at the time, it would be neighborly to obtain maybe a dozen of these and keep them handy for GSR members, should the need arise.

I bought 11 of them, backordered, from BikeBandit. Just enough to get the total cost over $100, for free shipping. It took forever, but I now have eleven of them ready to go. I will sell them at exactly my cost, which is $9.46 + shipping + Paypal fees (unless you pay as a 'gift').

Come next week, the shipping will be the usual $2.25, same as for all O-ring sales. (Until then, I'm out of #0 mailers, and my little mailers aren't big enough for these connectors, so my only choice is Priority at $5.80. Might as well just wait.).

There won't be any option for these on my website; this will be via Paypal or snail mail only. My Paypal address is: robert@cycleorings.com

We'll see how this goes. Maybe I don't sell many. Maybe they sell out right away, and I'll try to restock. Could be a one-shot offer, or an ongoing endeavor. It won't save the buyer much money (especially if there's a Triumph dealer nearby), but the idea is to save some riding season.

These connectors are really substantial, with nice fat wiring. Very heavy-duty, and bulkier than I expected. Here's what eleven of them look like:

and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

I'm planning on doing an upgrade pretty soon, so I will probably be in the market for one of these towards the end of the month.

I just did the upgrade on my 82 gs450T from the stock Shunt R/R to the SH775. Wow is all I have to say. I've observed a noticeable difference. I have a 60W HID headlight, plus two 55W HID Driving lights. On the stock R/R, the driving lights weren't really as bright as would be expected. When I plugged in the SH775, these same lights were much brighter.

Thanks to all the write-ups and discussion on this by everyone.

        Cheers,

Do you run with headlight and driving lights on at same time? If so you are doing a good test on the SH-775's ability. Check how hot it feels after a good ride.

No worries Tim, it's looking like that's the way to go as I'm eyeing off some relays and the 3 way fuse holder as well.

I priced the Triumph connector from Team Moto Triumph today... $42!!!!! That's a new record at over 400% of the US price...

Can someone just confirm for me that "Furukawa QLW .250” Connectors for FH012, FH011, FH010, FH009" is the right connectors set for this? I'm 99.9% positive it's right but just need to make sure...

Tim, will PM you as well.
