And a Polaris Series R/R? Any vendors you recommend for this?
Most any stator will be happy to be wed with a Series R/R.

A list of threads for the Polaris sources is in the thread "GS Stator".

I just figured since I'm buying such an expensive battery I don't want to take any chances and everyone keeps saying the stator is the main GS fault.

If you did a "Quick Test" and reported the results, everybody would have a better idea of what where your stand.

On the other hand if it is all apart, I would pull the stator and see what the insulation looks like. If it appeared overcooked i would replace it and with the SH-775 you would be done except of course if you wanted to add the SSPB.

I posted this awhile back, but this is the current condition. The bike is currently completly apart and I have no clue if that looks to be in good shape or not.

I've ordered from Partzilla before, but I can't seem to find the Polaris RR under my model #. Would you happen to have a part# just so I get the right one.

          UPDATE:
Would this be what I need?
Buy POLARIS OEM REGULATOR - 4012941 ✓ FREE Shipping on qualified orders - Partzilla.com

Also, does it already have the 3 wire hardness, 1 to ground and 1 to power or do I need an adapter?

Also, I might get Ricks stator on Partzilla as well, part#862477

I see I commented on that 3 weeks a go, as well as providing a reco for Series R/R.

Ok cool, I'll just get the RR now and hope the stator is good and then look into testing it once everything is running. Thanks guys and sorry for being a pain. This is a whole new world to me and I've been lucky to get this far with everyones help.

Looking at the pictures of the Polaris it seems like there's two plugs. Is there one plug for the stator and one plug to ground and power? What does the adapter do since I need to eventually need single wires?

Both of those are quite a bit overpriced.

There are other options for stators, but they are not yet published.

Send me your stator and drop $85 in my PayPal account, I will send you a freshly-rewound stator that will carry a 1-year warrantee.

Does that warrantee require a certified Series R/R install?

I might end up just buying a new stator so I don't take any chances, but the measurements look off to me.

This is the one on partzilla that calls for my model bike. When I measure the outside diameter of my current stator it is 3 5/8 and 1 3/8 inner diameter. The specs on the link above shows height 3 inch, length 6 inches. Am I not measuring this right?

Yes, one plug for the stator wires and the other is for pwr/gnd with two wires for ground.

I've got the Polaris SH-775. Best value for the money, no question. If you search around, you should be to find them below 70 bucks.

The adapters have the correct mating plugs on one end for the r/r. I then clipped off the other ends and soldered on the plugs I needed to tap into my stator leads. Pretty simple really.

Nope. That choice is still up to you.

You guys think the rick stator on the link on my previous post is the correct type I need? I am confused with the measurements even though my stator and the ricks are both 18 pole.

That's the box dimensions, not the actual stator. Be warned that these things are made in China. Steve's rewound offer is a better buy, I'd still test the original so when /if you replace it, you have old as backup. I'm using a unit off ebay rescued from an abandoned bike.
