gs1000e rear light not working ???
I have a 1980 gs1000e, the problem I am having is the rear stop and tail light does not work, though the brake light works ! I have checked the bulb and BOTH filaments are fine, and checked fuses, I even changed the bulb just to make sure, what is the most likely cause ???Tags: None

Do you have power at the connector near the fuse block on those wires? At the socket?Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

According to the wiring diagram on Basscliff's site ( http://www.mtsac.edu/~cliff/storage/...S-L_Manual.pdf ) the brown wire gets it's voltage from the ignition switch. Check that you have voltage coming into the switch on the grey wire and leaving the switch on the brown.

The rear stop light IS the brake light.

Most of the time, you are just looking for the presence of power, it does not matter whether it's actually 11.2 volts or 12.3.
Just the fact that you have power (the test light comes ON) is usually enough.

it is a twin filament bulb, stop and tail ! stop light works, but tail light does not, I have taken power direct from the battery and the bulb lights up, its the fact the brown wire has no power that has me stumped !

Get a test light, too.
