Replace Ignition Wires?
My GS1100 is running ok but the plug wires are crumbling. I'd like to replace the wires without replacing the coils. I notice there is a bit of glue where the wire meets the coil. Can I pull the wires out without damaging the coil? Has anyone done this with good results?Tags: None

Yes, you can replace the wires. Scrape off the epoxy and attempt to pull the wire out. If you get lucky it will pull straight out. If not, you will have to dig the wire out of the coil using a pick. The wire plugs into a recess in the coil with a spike in the bottom. Be careful to not damage the spike. 7mm copper core wires are needed if you want to use the stock plug caps, which have a resistor in them. You can also use suppressor wires and non resistor caps if you'd rather.
BTW, lots of threads on this subject in the archives just waiting for you to find them with a search.Ed
