    Do battery terminals get hot?

Do battery terminals, particularly the positive, get hot? I just noticed my positive terminal, and I can't imagine what would have caused this. I've only had the battery out once and I'm not sure, but I think I would have noticed this.

All lights, the entire electric system and charging works fine.

Looks like the result of a loose connection.

If the terminal leads are loose they will spark and generate heat - just like a welder
    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

    Past:
    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

If the connections there are corroded they will get hot.

They're tight now, but I can't speak for the PO(s).

After many hours cutting the front part of the stock airbox, I finally got to the battery. It had no vent hose, and low levels in at least three cells. Yet it had never even sounded weak.

The Voltage would be the same with a cell at a low level, but the capacity would be reduced. It will crank just as hard, but not for as long.

Can't possibly do that ; as stated it is charging fine.

Could be it was hot before because of some previous corrosion, someone fixed the corrosion and now everything is fine, except the battery post is still a little tweaked…

Some POs do fix things occasionally. It can happen. I had one once.

Maybe if he had a volt meter it would help solve the great mystery.

Can't possibly need a Voltmeter ; as stated it is charging fine.
