    81 650L, Where does R/R attach?

Trying to put back together a bike that was taken apart by someone else. Noticed tonight that the regulator/rectifier is just laying in there on top of the frame.

Where is the supposed to be attached?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I believe it's the underside of the battery box on that model. Might be on one of the sides of it.

Why do you have a red arrow pointing to the ignitor in that picture?

The plate they're (the ignitor and the r/r) screwed on to (which is what I see you have there) is screwed to the bottom of the plastic airbox. If no airbox, you'll have to rig something up--

Yes, both the igniter and rectifier/regulator are attached to the same plate back to back.

The air box was also removed which I have in a parts box and a bag of bolts.

Clymers had a small picture of how to remove these parts, but it wasn't super clear.

            Thanks for the input.

If you have both the airbox and the airfilter box, consider using these and get it running with them- if would be easier than jumping to pods

That plate attaches to bottom of airfilter box
