Yeah I agree, I've never been a fan of connectors, when it's related to things you remove on average only every few years or so.

I really think the issue is with my DynaS based on the testing I've done with everything else. Both coils CAN provide spark, so the coil setup is ok, the black wire out of the DynaS doesn't seem to do anything.

So I'm going to TRIPPLE check that wire along it's path, break it down and reconnect it to make sure it's seamless. If that doesn't work, then it's a new DynaS module....at which point I'll go connector less and solder all connections, covered with heat shrink.

Your problem then lies in the path of the signal going from the dyna s to the coil. Either something is wrong with the black wire, or something is wrong with the red wire going to the pickup with the black wire.

I read dyna s has a 1 year warranty, how old is you unit?
Might be worth contacting Dynatek about this, maybe you can get a new one by sending in yours.
Is there any way to tell where a wire is going once it's entered the void (the huge wrapped up bundle of wire)?

I can't imagine what other thing on the motorcycle would want/need to know when cyl 2 & 3 are firing..

I opened up the points cover to look at the DynaS....I'm afraid that one of the 3 screws holding on the plate has a very soft, and stripped head.....i've ordered a dremel so I can cut a new slot in it because if I can confirm that the black wire is in fact solid and continuous....and I still get no spark I'm afraid that I wont be able to remove the old dyna to get the new one on.

If you have a multimeter there should be a continuity tester on it, connect one probe to one end of a wire and the other probe to the other end of the wire and it should make a loud beep. If it doesn't beep there is no connection, or continuity...
But from the pics I've seen of the dyna S it appears all wires on it are isolated with shrink wrap all the way in to the pickups which would mean you would need to cut away some of it in order to probe anything and that would propably void the warranty if there is any.

          Update

Well unfortunatly my multi meter doesn't have this advanced feature, boo.

But no matter because I have fixed the problem.

If you remember, one of my original voltage questions was why the coil that fires 2 & 3 was always reading about 10v, vs the coil that fires 1 & 4 was reading about 1 volt.

I had come down to the realization that the issue was with the 2 & 3 pickup in the Dyna S. or there was a short in the wire (black)...which is unlikely.

Part of the testing procedure in the Dyna S instructions says that if your getting a constant high output to the coil, it's a bad pickup.

Put the new dyna S pickups (I did not change the rotating magnet thing...as it looked complex to mount, and my thinking is that a passive rotating magnet wont fail). And bammo, I'm getting spark to my 2 & 3 plugs via the new green 3OHM coils.

Unfortunately, my battery is now dead..or rather, died before the bike could fire.

I'm hoping that with spark and a charged battery I'll be a small amount of time choking and coughing away from a nice smooth working motorcycle again. I only hope the pickup failed due to age and not something wrong that shorted it. :-/ There are no moving parts within that device so I'm worried, but we'll see!

Thanks to everyone for helping. And maybe this thread will help someone else diagnose Dyna S issues. It really is VERY VERY simple...now that I've taken it all off and put new stuff back on.

i've been looking for hours to know where i should conect the orange white wire to find out it doen't matter
thanks anyways i knew the answer was here somewhere

They do, just a lot of them aren't marked. The OE coils, as you hold them with the HT leads towards you, have the + on the far left. Most of the time it's not important, but if you are pursuing the smoothest possible engine, such details make a difference.
