We thought 20v was low too. Just got back from getting the new battery. We're going to go over it again.

Sounds like a bad stator. As to grounds, I personally line to make up a little ground harness with ring terminals to connect the ground bolt on the solenoid (where the R/R is usually grounded) to the battery, and to the frame at the front battery box connection. I have seen this cure voltage drop more than once. Have to start with a good stator though.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things
