    Proper way to protect unused wires?

    Going to mount my new speedo and tach this weekend. I know there's going to be some left over wiring that isn't getting connected (fuel gauge, etc)

    How should I properly cover/cap them for protection? I want to keep them accessible in case I decide to change things up again.

    A piece of electrical tape folded over the end will do the job.

        I fold the wire and install shrink wrap.
        1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
        1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

          Shrink tubing, 6mm or so past the cut end of the wire, pinch the end with pliers while it's still hot to make a leakproof seal.

            Liquid electrical tape. Just dip & let dry.
            80 gs1100 16-v ported & polished, 1 mm oversize intake valves, 1150 carbs w/Dynojet stage 3, plus Bandit/gsxr upgrades

              I just shrink wrap..no tape needed.

              I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
