Thanks I had the same question this morning and wondered about the stock coils working with it properly. Hated to have to buy new coils since I have so many stock ones laying around.82 gs1100e FAUX Skunk

FYI they all run better with the Dyna coils, they are higher voltage and it does make a noticeable difference, but they will do ok with the stock coils.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

People are right that a new Dyna coil will make a fatter spark but the stock coils do work just fine. What I do with my stock coils now is pick out the old plugs wires and put new ones in with new caps. As good as a new Dyna in my mind, at least for what I'm using the bikes for.Rob

That's what I did (about 7 years ago) and recently replaced the stock points set-up with Dyna.
