These were common in bike shops around 1980 or so. They sure as heck weren't $115! I bought one set for my '79 850, and they were no better or worse than stock that I could tell. More of a novelty really.and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

It was said, thirty years ago, that if an electronic circuit didn't fry in the first ten seconds, it would last for thirty years.
How true that was.
Only now are we seeing many of the thirty year old ignitors finally turning their toes up. I think they did a good job and for them to last thirty years is excellent. I can't count how many sets of points and condensers and sheer hair-pulling moments that ancient (state of the art at the time) ignitor design saved me.
For my '79 bike, I had saved the points if I ever needed them. I never did, and they've long since been lost.Last edited by Grimly; 05-31-2014, 09:21 PM.---- Dave
