    New spark plug wires.

I'm changing out the old spark plug wires with new ones in my original coils. The old wires have a rubber "insulation sleeve / tube" over the 7mm dia. plug wire. I would like to know if this rubber tubing is available ? I think I've seen rebuilt coils that have it. I haven't seen nominal size rubber tubing fitting the bill. I think it might be size specific tubing for that application ? I'm aware that there's shrink tubing out there, but prefer the rubber if it's available. Any help is, as always, appreciated. thanks, Skyhawk

    Hello Ray.

I had similar. You can use shrink tubing. Cut to a lenght that will suit your purposes.

I don't think the extra insulator is really necessary. Maybe protection against abrasion?

Thanks, Glider... Yea, it's probably not necessary, and not that I'm a "fuss-bud" but the "heftier look" would be appealing. Thanks, Skyhawk

the OEM stuff is called "Sumitube WB32" and regular heat shrink is kind of thick and clunky in comparison. it's available here...

Motorcycle/Powersport Wire harness tubing - Black and Silver/Gray high gloss PVC Tubing, Harness Cover and loom, VW1 105C rated High temp PVC harness tubing, Sumitube W3B2 and Canusa DSG Adhesive Lined Shrink Tube, 3M Temflex, 33+, and Silver Electrical Tape, Braided expandable sleeving, and Cloth sleeving for that Classic OEM look. Great prices and low shipping cost.

Don't think so. The original stuff is a rubber tube of some sort. I just redid the wires on my KZ750 (almost identical to GS coils) and was able to remove the tubes from the old wires and reinstall them onto new wire from Z1.

thanks for the correction Ed, i was thinking the stuff was thinner (my old coils are put away out of sight). good to know one can re-use the jackets. that re-wire job on the KZ750 coils is fantatstic BTW

Thanks for the input guys... I think Ed's coils were the ones I saw somewhere on the forum, They came out nice, and I may try to do that... or maybe try to use : 1/4" ID. X 3/8" OD. rubber tubing I saw on e-bay. I think the 1/4" ID. is very close to 7mm. Anyhow, thanks again... Skyhawk.
