    Tach doesn't work.

My tach has been inop since purchase. All the other gauges on the tack work fine, just doesn't show RPMS. Any recommendations where to start with this one? It's an 85gs450. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Check the cable. The tach is not electrical. It's mechanical. The cable drives the tach mechanism and is usually the reason for not working. If it's not the cable then most likely a gummed up tach mechanism inside the gauge. There are ways to open up the housing and lubricate it. Some have had success with dripping oil down the into the tach but I've always had to take it apart to get everything lubed up right.

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

Agreed. My tach cable was broken in half internally. When taking it off, it wasn't totally noticeable until I pulled on the inner cable and it pulled completely out of the cable cover. The gauge itself used to squeal like crazy at lower RPMs until I took it off and oiled it.

So your bike has two tach's on it? What's up with that?
