    gs450 reg/rec question

So I've had my bike going for about a week, and today, a blew a fuse, swapped it.out, fired it up and the regulator started smoking and.it died again. Do they.just give up; or do I have an issue elsewhere? I have a spare one but don't want to try it just to fry that one.too. any help would be great. Thanks

Better fix your charging system or you'll be smoking lots of expensive stuff.
Go here do some reading- this is a common problem.

Can you take pic of your R/R and post it ? There are loads of crappy ones! Both OEM and aftermarket units.

Yes, it gets overwhelming, but Basscliff has basic info with pics! Go here

Note the last page ( testing AC output with stator wires disconnected from R/R) - if you get this far, there's one other test you can do here. Put one meter probe on any stator lead, other on good bike ground and check for voltage- you want none or very little displayed!
