82 GS650E new CDI still wont start

Hi there, my friend is working on my bike and he has run into a problem. He found that the old cdi was not working so I ordered an after market replacement from Belgium (I am in Ontario Canada) and the new cdi works but it is causing all 4 cylinders to fire at once, and now for some reason the old cdi is only half working, cylinders 2 and 4 but 1 and 3 are not firing at all.

Anyone have any idea as to what is the problem??

The old igniter (not a cdi ) fires 1 and 4 together and then 2 and 3 together, so please review which ain't firing,cuz for 4 to fire,1 has to too! Etc. this Belgium gizmo - did it come with it's own signal triggers?
