Replace your fuses on a regular basis (every 36 years)

My 78 GS1000 would sputter at high RPM, lights were not as bright, and just seemed a little out of sorts. Last night after a 30 mile ride, it started to sputter, buck and would not run over 2500 RPM. I limped the last 2 miles home with the light off at 20 MPH and it quit in the driveway ( it always gets me home ). Dead as a stone. I went to bed thinking stator, rectifier, big $$$. Tonight I checked the battery and was fully charged. I look at the main fuse and it was not blown. I went to pull it out and it came out in 3 pieces. Both ends were corroded through on the inside. The headlight fuse did the same thing. Replaced all 4 fuses and it runs like a different bike. Revs off the clock, bright lights. All for about 2 bucks.
