    1981 GS750E battery info needed.

Just picked up a 1981 GS750E, it came w/o a battery. Been looking for suitable batteries, but all of them seem to be too tall for the area below the filter box. I measure 5"-5.5" of height allotted w/ the filter box in place. Can any of you GS750E owners help me out with the actual battery size that fits in below the filter box? I hate to buy a battery, then it doesn't fit. I know it should be a 14aH, but they all seem to be too tall.

    Thanks

    Joe

Didn't mean to be short but I was posting from my iPhone.

The thing is, it appears the same battery is spec'd for several bikes in your stable. Pull one of those and see what works....

You're right, good thinking. Never thought of that. That's why I ask questions....

That battery is extremely common and should cross-reference to something at any given auto parts store, batteries plus, heck even Walmart. (I bought one at Sam's Club.)

If you plan to keep the bike for a while and don't want to bother with recharging the battery every month in the winter, the guys here recommend an AGM battery. More expensive than a traditional battery but less maintenance and will last longer.

If you have a Batteries Plus+ go there and get an AGM battery, it says Duracell on it though is made by Yuasa.

For about $43.00 this fine AGM battery will be at your door and fully charged in about 3 days: http://www.chromebattery.com/motorcy...s-battery.html
