1978 GS 400 Ignition w/ CDI wiring diagram

Hi to everyone, as i told you in my presentation thread, last week i bought a 1978 GS 400, the problem is that before i start the restoration i need to run the engine to know everithing its OK. The ignition system is a huge mess and it has no spark, its too old to fix it in parts so i have to do it all new. Do someone have and electric/ignition with CDI wiring diagram ?

    Thanks for reading!

So this bike now has contact points ,and you want to upgrade to electronic ignition or am I misunderstanding you?

Stock setup was points - I think!-so convince me.Remove little cover in front of right foot (as you sit on bike) and peek! What do you see on crankshaft end? Has someone converted it?

Also there are no cdi for your bike. It s either an ignitor swap or a dyna s conversion.

I was told the last owner converted it to CDI ignition

This is what there is in the points place

I'm convinced! Any markings/numbers on this thing? Or the plate it's mounted on? Do those wires go right up to ignition coils or do they connect to some box along way?

Doesn't look like any mechanical advance so I would guess it is an integrated aftermarket peice.

about the wires of the sensor. one goes to the CDI box and the other isn't connected to anything.

the cdi box has 5 outlets

the other wire from the sensor where is suposed to be connected?

everything of the wiring is ruined so i have to replace all ( stator, ignition, starting, lights )

                      OK Question number 23.......

You have an ignitor box in addition to the ignition plate on the end of the crank?

You know a picture really is worth a thousand words.............

yes, one of the wires that comes out from the sensor goes to that box. the other one is connected to anything

Im seeing some wiring diagrams and in some of them i see that the pulse comes from the stator, in others from a pulse generator like the one in my bike.

which of the stator wires has to go to the CDI Box?

Sounds like you have an after market ignitor or is it a CDI?

Can you find a part number and look it up?

I have never seen one of those before.

Read the number on the side look up the manufacturer and see if there is a data sheet.
