head light burns out Engine dos'nt run right

I have a 1982 gs300l when heah light burns out the engine will not rev. i can witch to the high beam or low beam ( the one thats not burned out) and it runs fine or i can turn on a turn signal and it will rev when it blinks or lightly apply a brake just enough to get the brake light to come on and it runs fine. Any thougths why this is happening?

How often is the headlight burning out? Generally frequent burnouts are a sign of overcharging because the regulator is shot. Maybe when the load is too low the voltage is too high. Check out what voltage you are getting at the battery when she's running.

On limited information; I would suspect the regulator is shot and producing too much voltage - the load of the headlight (or other lights) is clamping it down a bit and the ignitor is happier. If it is an electronic ignition on that bike, you don't want to be over-volting it, as it will burn out. This may be why the other filament on the headlight burned out in the first place.
Do you have a multi-meter to put across the battery and check what your charging voltage is?

Racing certainty the regulator is shot. It should be capping it out at about 14.4V. Depending on how long it's been going on the battery may also be in trouble and it's also the reason your bulbs are blowing.
What other measurements did you take, battery at rest, ign on, idle etc?

You need a new r/r ; get the sh-775. Wonder why there is such a spat of end of season overcharging going on right now.
