Greetings! I just bought an 81' GS650G, which is also my first motorcycle. I'm new to all things motorcycle. Turns out the trip meter on my bike keeps resetting itself at 1 mile. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or a similar issue and been able to fix it? Or is this something that I can't fix and I need to start looking for a whole new speedometer? Thanks for the help!

I have transplanted trip meters from donor gauges but I will tell you its not a picnic!!!MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it. -
This is just a shot but worth mentioning: I had an '82 650GL (also my first bike). I seem to recall something odd with the trip meter - make sure when you reset it, it goes all the way back to zero. Like make sure you push it in all the way or turn it all the way, and that it goes fully to zero and not half way between 0 and 1.Comment
