at only 3000 miles, I'd be real suspicious of connections after a long barn storage. I have two heavily weathered ignitors , but both work fine.
About the connections... Are the connections to the igniter itself supposed to come off? connectios.jpg

It's becoming pretty clear to me why folks are recommending the Dyna ignition. I have two quick questions:

1] Is this the correct Dyna? https://dynacart.dynojet.com/p-1110-...1000-1100.aspx It lists a number of Suzuki fours but skips the 650. Mine is an '81 GS650GL according to the plate.

2] Is that the only part to it? There's no module that goes under the seat? The leads go right to the coils then?

This is the one from Z1 note your 650'has ND system

you have to modify mounting plate slightly due to oil sending unit- this is why the 650 is not listed, as some folks would be unable to handle this! Drop down in this forum and look at member awilchiwsky' posts
