Any updates on the ADVmonster H4 LED?
I was wondering if there is any further information on the few who have converted to these bulbs. Hopefully the heat sink won't melt wires in the headlight bucket. I've been toying with routing the wires in cable bundles more toward the outside of the housing so they are out of the way. Hopefully someone has some more information on this.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.Tags: None

I installed mine in the fall, but thanks to the unusually brutal winter have accumulated very little riding time with it. So far, I'm impressed (KLR650 wearing a GS650GL headlight).
Anyway, the heat sink barely gets warm. It won't melt anything. The LED light puts out far less heat than a normal halogen bulb.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Based on Brian's (limited) experience, I got one to put in "Junior".
I was not impressed at all by the pattern it put out on the road. Actually, calling it a "pattern" is being rather generous.
Please keep in mind that I have a rectangular Hella unit, which is not representative of any GS light.
Took the bulb out, put it in my son's 1000G with a stock light. Still not what I would call "perfect", but MUCH better than the Hella.
If anyone is looking to get one, they are on sale right now for $32. Click HERE to go to the site.

I'll be putting mine in a CandlePower reflector. It puts out a really nice pattern with a Narva 50+ H4, just not bright enough for these old eyes, so I'll have a nice modern reflector and bulb to compare it to. I'll post back on how it does in an excellent reflector.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

I think I had much better luck than Steve with the reflector I have. I haven't had it out at night but I did a few pattern tests before I installed it, in my garage against a white door from the back of the garage. Even though it is nice on the road, the Narva +50 H4 had a fairly flat arc on the door and spots of higher and lower intensity that I didn't like. The ADVmonster H4 led projected just about a perfectly round white circle. Looking at the bike from outside is instant blindness, more like a freight train light than a motorcycle. I will report back after I have an opportunity to test it on the road and adjust the beam height. I don't think I'll be missed in daytime traffic with the high beam on, it will definitely attract attention.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Steve, I know you're a connoisseur of headlight beam patterns. How would you compare this to standard DOT? I showed pics of this thing to my bother, and he said there was no way it was legal (meaning OEM regs).Dogma

After putting it in the stock 1000G light, the pattern was not too bad. "DOT compliant"? Maybe not in the strictest interpretation, but I don't think anyone would get pulled over for it. On the other hand, if you live in a state that has vehicle inspections that include checking the pattern and alignment, ...

I just checked my "mad money", I have more than enough to get a TruckLite.
My "mad money" comes from my pocket. Every night, I empty any change from my pocket and put it into a mug on the dresser. In a couple of months, the mug fills up and I roll the coins. Every couple of years I cash the rolled coins in. Sometimes I get tires, this time it will be a headlight.

I don't know much about standard DOT, but if my other H4 was standard, this one is just about perfect. I rolled it out in the back yard after dark, Low beam starts in a curving V right in front of the front tire and spreads out beautifully from there. The light is as good as the Focused HID lights on my RX8. I would easily drive at speed in the mountains with the low beam and not worry about over driving the light. High beams, light up the trees and sides of the road with a perfectly white useable light. I would say they are probably half again as bright as my Narva H4, but seem a lot brighter because the light is so white and clear. I think with Steve's comments, the quality of these lights are directly proportional to the design of the reflector. Legal or not, it stays on the bike. I don't think, adjusted properly, the low beam would bother oncoming traffic.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Because I have seen the difference in two lights here (I did not try it in a couple other reflectors I have), I can only say "try it, you might like it". In my case, though, for my bike, I don't.

On the brightness, I just looked up the specks of the Narva Plus-50 H4 Xenon I was using. NARVA 1150 lumens low beam, 1895 lumens high beam, 55/60 watts . ADVmonster r2 2800 lumens low beam, 3000 lumens high beam, 20/25 watts.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.
