    Stumped...

Yep me again... I have three bikes and cant get any of them running for more than a day at a time lol

A coupla weeks back my gs750 just went dead while i was riding... The lithium ion battery that was in it was totally drained... When i checked the fuses the ignition fuse was blown completely in half... I replaced the fuse and jumped it off a jeep and it ran fone to get me the few blocks home... Then the battery was too low to start it again...

does this sound more like a shorted wire or charging system problem? Dunno which way to go to tackle this???

Some simple tests will tell you where the problem is, but you will have to start with a known good battery.

I know some have gotten away with a lithium battery, but I am not convinced that the charging system on these old bikes charges them correctly, even when everything is working properly.

Member "posplayr" has a great set of tests that will tell you in just a few minutes where your problem is, click HERE to see his post on the topic.

I had a similar problem. My rectifier ground wire came loose and it ran on battery only which ran my battery down. My fuse didn't blow though. I reconnected my rectifier ground wire solidly and was back in business. If everything is connected properly then you would be following the link from Steve to test the stator and rectifier. In full disclosure, while I am running a lithium iron battery, I am also using an aftermarket rectifier that rectifies all three legs of the stator.

A quick test will offer big clues to charging issues..... Make sure you start with fully charged battery

When you jump a bike's battery, make sure the jumper vehicle is not running or unpleasant stuff can happen.
