    1980 GS400 will not start.

I bought 2 1980 Gs400's from this guy 4 days ago, one was running and the other was not.
The running one, while not idling amazingly worked when i was there picking it up. Brought it home started it up to take her around the yard, but to my defeat it only idled with the choke out and whenever i gas it throttle it died, so then after a while it just wouldn't crank over. So i decided it might be the carbs and cleaned those. After cleaning them the bike wouldnt turn over at all again. help

A two fer! Your carb cleaning is under suspicion ,but the " not turning over" stuff probably means you disconnected some wiring or just wore out the battery. Plan on playing catch up with maintenance and figure that previous owner just passed on his troubles to lucky you. Have a look here.....

So it's turning over......have you checked if spark plugs are firing ? If they are, then your carb cleaning messed something up, since you said it was sorta running before.
can you tell us if this bike has contact points ignition or a transistorized system?
