How to aim your headlight

I just roll the vehicle in question into a parking lot on a foggy night and adjust to my liking....My father said headlight aim was a big deal during vehicles inspection many years ago.sigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Those instructions might have worked when then only thing to worry about was a "hot spot", and all you had to do was keep it out of the eyes of oncoming traffic. With the lights that are in use today, there is commonly a sharp cut-off at the top of the beam, much like a fog light. It is easier to do an adjustment in a dark parking lot where you can see exactly where that cut-off is, rather than trying to do measurements on a wall.
Let's face it, when you have a pattern like this, how hard can it be?
