Almost every four-cylinder GS came with a Yuasa YB14L-A2. I'm not 100% sure if yours did, but it probably did. To make things good and confusing, every battery manufacturer has their own part number system. However, if you go battery hunting and find one that cross-references with this one, you should be good. Most of them (but not all) will have a 14L in the part number somewhere.

Wouldn't any 12V 14Ah battery work? That's what the service manual lists as the specs, and I figure if the new has those characteristics, you can't go wrong.

Like Steve said, the terminals could be swapped, or they might be the wrong kind of terminals altogether.

These little batteries come in many different sizes, even with the capacities are the same or similar. A battery that's too large in one dimension won't fit the bike. One that is too small can be made to fit by, stuffing in some wood or plastic blocks. But you won't pay much (if any) less for it and have to do extra work to fit it in. Better to spend an extra minute or two on research and just get the right one.

Still searching for the right battery. The WALMART superstart powersport lastes a year. I have been through 2 of them now and for 24 bucks I guess I deserve it HA!
