    Points maintenance

Wondering how often guys clean up there points. I can tell by the increased handle bar vibration that mine are due and if I leave it to long 2-3 start to miss. I just run a strip of 600 emery paper through them.

You should NEVER use emory cloth or sandpaper on points. Especially sandpaper, as that embeds grit in the contacts, but both sandpaper and emory cloth will round the edges over.

Get yourself a good points file. Small, cheap and you probably won't have to do the maintenance as often.

Just go inside a modern auto parts store and ask for a points file. Very entertaining.

Hmm, a quick search at the website of one of the major ones did turn up a points file. They aren't trying very hard if they can't come up with it.
